Home / About // Staff and Elders /// Stormy Cooper
Stormy joined Cottonwood with her family in 2003 and has served in The House nursery on and off for 20 years. She lives with her husband, Clay and their five children.
Before joining the Cottonwood staff, Stormy worked as an assistant teacher at a local preschool and was also a stay-at-home mom for 13 years. She has a passion for and calling to motherhood and is grateful for the opportunity to use that calling to love and serve the children and families of Cottonwood.
“My vision for The House is that every child would encounter Jesus through Scripture, Bible stories, and learning the names and character of God. When children are in The House, it is my prayer that they would experience His presence, know His love, and discover who they are in Christ.
I want them to know that they have a place and purpose in God’s Kingdom. Children are not simply the future of the Church; they are a meaningful part of the body of Christ now. My heart is to nurture and love each child while coming alongside families as they grow in faith and love for Jesus and His Church.“
“I don’t remember a time when I did not know the Lord. I was raised in a Christian home and attended church faithfully my entire life. I remember having a relationship with God from an early age, but began to grow in faith and love for Him in Junior High School.
I have seen the faithfulness of the Lord over and over again in my life and in the lives of those around me, despite great hardship, pain, grief and sin. He always keeps His promises and His love never fails. He is always enough.“
For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
Isaiah 61:11
“I love art, photography, interior design, music, reading and enjoying coffee. I love spending time with family and friends, but am also a bit of a homebody.
I love being at home with my people or solitude in nature.”
“I believe the Lord has led me here, bringing together my love for Him, my calling to motherhood, and my heart for children. I believe what happens in the earliest years of a child’s life is incredibly important, and I want to steward The House so it continues to be a place where children can know they are loved, know who God is, and begin to discover who He has created them to be.”
