Mike Fritscher

Senior Pastor

Mike has served as the Pastor of Cottonwood Church since 1985.

His journey began with a calling to ministry at a young age, leading to a lifelong dedication to serving God and his congregation. Alongside his wife, JonAnne, and their family, Mike helps others to live fulfilling, God-directed lives.

Vision for our church

“Believing that we are created in the Image of God, my hope as your pastor is that I am reflecting the Good Shepherd of Psalm 23 and John 10, who is present to love you and your family to the places God has designed you to be.“

Personal testimony

“Raised in the church by a mother who not only introduced me to faith but also taught me to love the church, my early years at Memorial Baptist Church in Metairie, Louisiana, laid a solid foundation for my understanding of the gospel. It was in my pastor’s study at the age of eight that I came to believe the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross was made personally for me.

By the age of ten, I felt the initial stirrings of a call to pastoral ministry, a desire that would only grow stronger with time. Between the ages of 14 and 17, I was fortunate to have men in my life who were not just mentors but who actively discipled me, shaping my early spiritual journey. At 17, I fully surrendered to the call to ministry, embracing the path God had laid out for me.

A pivotal moment came at 27 when I experienced a profound move of God in my life. Freed from the fear of dying young, I committed to serving as the pastor of Cottonwood for as long as God would have me. In the years that followed, God guided me to develop a gospel message centered on the belief that Jesus enters our lives to remove sin, defeat the enemy, and transform us into His likeness.”

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Hobbies and interests

“I like yard work, fishing and the outdoors. I love time with the grands. And I really love windshield time with JonAnne that can take us across the county on a drive in the country, or across the state of Texas, and even a 5 to 7 day trip somewhere in the United States.”

Why are you here?

“I believe I’m alive to glorify the Lord by reflecting Him in every area of my life: As a man to the world, a husband, to JonAnne. As a dad and grandfather to my children and grandchildren. As a pastor to our church.

I believe I am alive to Love people to the places God has always intended them to be!”
