Chance’s early involvement with Young Life and internships at Cottonwood paved the way for his official role on the church staff in 2001, marking the beginning of a dedicated ministry to youth.
Husband to Chelsea and as a father of four, Chance’s passion extends beyond his professional duties, deeply influencing his personal life where he cherishes the transformative power of faith in young lives. His ministry is built on fostering a personal relationship with Jesus Christ among our students.
Chance spent his early years in Hillsboro, TX before moving to Godley, TX, for a year, and ultimately graduating high school in Springtown, TX. He met his future wife, Chelsea, at Weatherford College, and then transferred to Tarleton State University.
During his college years, he was involved with Young Life, completed internships at Cottonwood, and married Chelsea. By the summer of 2001, he officially joined the staff at Cottonwood and, a few years later, pursued further education at B.H. Carroll Theological Institute.
Together, Chelsea and he are parents to four wonderful children. His greatest joy comes from witnessing the transformative power of faith in the lives of teenagers he works with. Cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the hearts of the youth is the foundation of his ministry. As a husband and father, his life beautifully illustrates the impact of family, faith, and humility.
While his pastoral duties define his professional life, he finds true fulfillment in the personal connections and growth shared with those around him. He is thankful for the chance to serve and guide others in their faith journey, always hoping his life exemplifies the grace that has molded him and directs others towards the love of Jesus Christ.
“The vision for Cottonwood College and Young Adults focuses on guiding our young adults in a faith journey that includes evangelism, spiritual growth, fellowship, discovery of personal gifts, and worship. We aim to share the good news beyond the church, encouraging students to see the world through God’s eyes and to act as His hands and feet in their communities. Discipleship is key, as we nurture students to deepen their faith and live out God’s word daily, while also learning to disciple others.
We also prioritize creating opportunities for students to connect with each other and with God, discover their unique talents for service, and live a life of worship by offering themselves fully to God. Our ministry invites everyone—parents, students, and aspiring leaders—to join this transformative journey, fostering a community that honors God and impacts the lives of our youth profoundly.”
“My life took a dramatic turn during my senior year of high school, moving from a path filled with immorality, waywardness, and selfishness to one that is now cleansed, forgiven, and dedicated to a profound purpose.
I felt called to share the gospel with the next generation, a mission that resonated deeply within me. It was then that the Holy Spirit led me to surrender my life to ministry, specifically focusing on students. This journey has taken me through various roles: from being a youth leader at FBC Springtown to taking on leadership at Weatherford BSM, serving as the Stephenville Young Life Area Director, stepping into the role of Youth & College Pastor at Cottonwood, coaching the local football team, and acting as the FCA team Chaplain. Each step on this path has been guided by a commitment to serve and inspire young lives.”
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

“Jesus died for me so it’s not too much to ask that I live for him!”
