Brayden Burleson

Youth Pastor

Brayden’s family has longstanding ties to the local area, having been part of Cottonwood since he was just two years old. Growing up within this community, Brayden developed a profound love for Cottonwood.

After graduating from Dublin, he interned with the youth ministry and then moved to North Carolina to explore other ministry opportunities. However, it wasn’t long before he felt a compelling call to return to Cottonwood, a testament to the strong bond he shares with the church.

Vision for Cottonwood Youth

“In today’s world, distance no longer hinders connection. Our church is committed to spreading God’s word far and wide, from distant nations to our local streets. We believe in fostering a sense of community that transcends physical presence.

Through social media, we aim to create opportunities for everyone to engage with our church, regardless of their location. Our vision is to cultivate a congregation of believers who, even if they cannot join us in person, are an integral part of Cottonwood, united in faith and fellowship.”

Personal testimony

“Growing up in a believing family led me to church from a very young age. By the time I was five, I felt a strong pull towards ministry, even boldly telling Pastor Mike that I would take his job one day.

Life, of course, brought its share of hardships, but through it all, God’s call on my life remained clear and unwavering.

In 2020, I ventured away for a brief period to explore ministry opportunities elsewhere, and it was during this time that I met the woman who would become my wife. After moving back to Texas, we married a year and a half later, marking the beginning of a new chapter in both our lives and ministry.”

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hobbies and interests

“I have an ongoing joke with my wife about making time for new hobbies because I have countless.

My main hobbies include hunting, fishing, and leather work.”

Why are you here?

“Growing up in Cottonwood, being part of the youth group helped shape my faith. There were times when I could choose to follow Jesus or go my own way, and God used the youth ministry as a lighthouse to keep pointing me back to Him.

That’s why I’m here.

I want God to use me in that same way in the lives of our students, and to help them know Jesus and learn what it means to follow Him. My heart is that, no matter what they’re facing, our church and our ministries will keep pointing them back to Jesus and the hope we have in Him.”
