Scott was born in Denton, Texas and attended Tarleton State University in 1988. It was then he began attending Cottonwood with his parents. He has been an integral part of the Cottonwood team since 1992, passionately fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth among the youngest members of the church.
Beyond the Cottonwood’s walls, Scott celebrates over 30 years of marriage to the love of his life, Shellie. Together, they are enjoying watching the beautiful journeys of their three married children.
“My hope is that every child that ever has walked through our doors— past, present or future— will (at some point) trust in Jesus, embrace Christ-centered bible teaching, and develop into maturing followers of Christ who are, by their own desire, seeking Him, knowing Him and loving Him.
Because these kids are being changed, we will see families changed! We will see these godly kids influence an ever-increasing godless culture by living out the 5 core Christian values— and they will overcome!”
“I was blessed to grow up in a wonderful Christian home where love for the church was part of our daily life. Seeing real faith lived out at home, I came to trust in the Lord when I was just ten years old. In high school, the idea of ministry seemed appealing to me, something I thought would be fun.
However, it was during my college years, while I was attending Cottonwood, that I felt a strong calling. It was then I decided to follow what I felt God was leading me to do and entered vocational ministry.”
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Phlippians 4:6-8
“My wife Shellie and I run several short-term rentals in the Stephenville area.
On the side, I design house plans and have a passion for cooking, travel, and remodel work. Yeah, it’s a pretty random mix of interests, but I love it all.”
“I want to see kids, families, and kids who grow up to have families succeed. I also love teaching! I love to teach Bible truths to kids ESPECIALLY the 3rd-6th graders.
I love to teach adults, I love to dig in Scripture and look at the deeper stuff too, unpacking mystery and spiritual perspectives.”
