When You Pray, Say: Forgive Us Our Sins! Luke 11:4

Luke 11:1-4 – Teach Us to Pray!

I.    Two Words!
Forgive: To Send Away! To let Go! To Remit! To Give up a debt!
Sins: To miss the mark, to err, to violate God’s Law in thought and/or deed!

II.  The Nature of Sin: It’s Selfish, Disobedient, Always Against God!

III. The Problem With Sin:

A.   It Separates:

Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. 2. But your iniquities of made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face form you so that He does not hear!

B.   Sin Dominates: The Heart and Mind of Mankind

Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

Romans 3:10 There is none Righteous, no not one!

C.   Sin Devastates:

Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned these away and your sins have held good from you!

James 1:15 When Sin is Accomplished it brings forth death!

Romans 6:23 For the wages of Sin is Death!

Galatians 6:8 Those who sow to the flesh reap corruption!

D.   Sin Emanates! vFrom One Man, Adam, all sin!

IV. The Remedy for sin! God’s Forgiveness!

1 Peter 2:24 – He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross that we might die to sin and live to righteousness for by His stripes we are healed.

Romans 5:6-10

We Say: You Are Our Savior!

We Say: We Are the Saved! The Redeemed! Forgiven!

Since I am forgiven, Once and for all, why do I pray this?

A.   Because Christ told Us to Pray this!
B
.   Because We still fall into sin and there are still consequences to sin.
C
.   Because in our full Cleansing, we still get dirty!

John 13:5-11

D.   We Still require forgiveness from God, not as Judge but as Our Father!
E
.   Asking daily for forgiveness, clears our conscience, and reminds us of our Justification!

1 John 1:8-10 and 2:1-2
