Teach Us To Pray! Luke 11:1-13 Pt 2

Why The Question or Statement?

They Understood the Power of Prayer in Old Testament Scripture!

They Saw the Utter Bankruptcy of their Spiritual Leaders’ Prayer Life.

They Saw the Power, Authority and Majesty of Jesus’ Prayers!

When You Pray Say! Matthew 6:9-13

2 Parts in this Prayer: God’s Glory and Man’s Need or Our Worship and God’s Provision!

God’s Glory: Your Name, Your Kingdom, Your Will!

God’s Provision: He Gives, He Forgives, He Leads and He Delivers!

I. We Say: Who He Is! Our Father! (Abba)

A. Jesus Called God, Father (Abba)!

B. We Repent, Surrender and Believe and We Say Abba (Father)!

Galatians 4:6 Because You are sons, God has sent forth His son into our Hearts crying Abba, Father!

1 John 5:1 Whoever Believes that Jesus is the Christ is Born of God and whoever loves the Father, loves what is born of Him!

C. When We Pray we say, Our Father!

Who is Our Father?

1 Peter 1:3 Our Father, by His Great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope!

Psalm 103 – His Benefits and His Ways!

Father – Nourisher, Protector, Upholder, Provider

II. We Say We Are Children of God! 1 John 3:1-14

Romans 8:14-15

III. We Say: this is How We Live!

WE! I follow Him, walking in Love! Ephesians 5:1-2

I Will Love Like He Loved! Matthew 5:43-48

I Will Promote Family Love and Unity! John 17:22-24

I Will Live an Unselfish/Selfish Life!

I Will Live My Abba’s Life!

1. What is Your biggest take away from this morning’s message?

2. Does God as Father have a deeper meaning to you? If so how?

3. Turn to Psalm 103:1-14 – What Benefits Speak most to your heart? Which Ways of God Are you most impressed with?

4. Turn to 1 John 3:1-14 – How do these Scriptures speak to you?

5. Spend some time praying “Our Father” filling up your prayer with what you have learned about God the Father, you as His Child and How you are to live.
