Running the Race: Finishing Strong! Hebrews 12:1-4

Question: Have Begun This Race? Jesus Authors Your Faith!

Question: How You Know You Are in the Race

¬ You Love the Brethren: 1 John 3:13-20

1 John 4:20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Question: Will You Finish Strong? Jesus Finishes Your Faith!

1st How You Start is How You Finish! How You Keep Going!

Colossians 2:6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him (lead your life), 7 having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith just as you were instructed and overflowing with gratitude.

You Believed, You Believe!

Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth the gospel of your salvation having also believe you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of Promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession to the praise of His glory.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is He who Calls You and He also will bring it pass.

1 John 3:3 When He appears we will be Like Him!

Philippians 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

You Confessed Him as Lord, You Confess Him as Lord.

You Believed and then Produced the Fruit of Repentance:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promises, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance!

Matthew 3:8 Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

2nd You Love God and People to the End!

John 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

He Washed Their Feet and Told Us to do the Same!

He Gave Us A New Commandment:

The Great Commandment:

¬ In the Old Testament: Deuteronomy 30:15-20

¬ In the New Testament:

Matthew 22:35-40 One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 “This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 “The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 40 “On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The New Commandment

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

What this Looks Like!1 Corinthians 13:

He Died a Crucified Life on their behalf:

¬ Father Forgive them they know not what they do
¬ Today You shall be with me in paradise
¬ Mother, behold your son, son behold your mother
¬ I Commit my Spirit into your hands
¬ It is Finished!

3rd You Live the Crucified Life!

Galatians 2:20 I am Crucified with Christ; and it is not longer i who live, but do, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

| Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children; 2 and walk i love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
