From Grief To Freedom!

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is Upon Me! Because the LORD has anointed e to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To Proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.

Binding Up the Broken Hearted! Proclaiming Liberty!

1. Identify the Wound & How You Have Responded to the Wound!

⎫ Rejection or Abandonment:
⎫ Parental Absence: Divorce, Death, Emotional Absence
⎫ Abuse: Verbal, Physical and or Sexual
⎫ Self Inflicted Wound Because of Sin! David: Psalm 51

Wounded -> Offended -> Angered -> Unforgiving
-> Root of Bitterness -> Causes Trouble, Defiles Many!

Hebrews 12:14-17 The Root of Bitterness Leads to Defilement!

The Way of Cain – Genesis 4:1-14

⎫ You’re Wounded: God Rejects His Sacrifice:

Matthew 12:34 For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.
Matthew 15:10 … Hear and understand. 11 It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.

⎫ You Become Offended and Angry!

And anger is a very dangerous placed to be! It just is! Jesus said in

Matthew 5:21-23 You have heard that the ancients were told, YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER and whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court!

⎫ Sin Is Crouching at the Door of Your Life!
⎫ You Must Master It!

Galatians 5:14-22 Notice Paul talks about 15 sins: and over half of them deal with anger and un-forgiveness.

⎫ You Become Hidden from the Face of God
⎫ And Become A Spiritual Vagrant and Wanderer

Matthew 18:21-35 – Trouble Follows Angry and Unforgiving People!
2. Repent and believe the gospel.
3. Receive and Walk in God’s Grace! Titus 2:11-13

Hebrews 4:15-16 – Grace and Mercy in Time of Need!

4. Be A Forgiver! Just Like Jesus!

Identify the offenses.
Thank God for the offense. (1 Thessalonians 5:18-19)
Ask, “What benefit do I receive by walking in unforgiveness toward your offender?”
Compare what you owe God to what your offender owes you.
Pray a specific prayer of forgiveness and ask the Lord to remove all bitterness anger.

“Father, I confess that I have not loved the following people who have hurt and disappointed me. I acknowledge that my wound has run very deep and have not allowed you to heal these wounds and as a result have held un-forgiveness in my heart towards____________ for________________. This anger and un-forgiveness is sin. I ask You to forgive me for this bitterness, anger and wrath that I have walked in. I know that on my own, I could never forgive them. But I know that You can through me. So right now, by an act of my will and according to your spirit, I choose to forgive_______________ and release him/her of the debt. I will no longer walk in agreement with bitterness and un-forgiveness. In the name of Jesus I put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. I choose to put on love. Thank you, Lord for forgiving me. And as you have forgiven, so I will forgive. Thank you for this power, thank you for this freedom, In the name of Jesus! Amen!
