Freedom From Guilt and Shame:
1 Samuel 11, 12 and Psalm 51

Guilt – a feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, crime, sin or wrong. Relates to others.

Shame – the painful feeling arising from your conscience of something dishonorable improper, done by yourself or another – relates to self.

1 Samuel 11 David’s Sin! David Is Redeemable!

I. Avoid Choices and Lifestyles that Bring Guilt and Shame! 11:1

1. Be Where You Are Supposed to Be/Do What You Are Supposed to Do!

2. Believe that Every Temptation is Beatable!

• Because Every Temptation is Not Beyond Your Ability or Power!

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it! 11 Therefore, my beloved, flee idolatry.

• Because Of Our Motivation to the Word! (Exodus 20)
• Because Of Your Loyalty to the Honor of God’s Name!
• Because of Your Loyalty to Your Neighbor.
• Because of Who You Are and What You Have In Christ!

Romans 8:14-16 You are the Sons of God, led by the Spirit! No Longer Slaves!

• Because of Grace! Titus 2:11-14

3. When You Sin, Do Not try to Hide it!

Psalm 32:3 When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away with the fever heat of summer.

1. When God Says it’s You, Agree With Him! Say What He Says!

2. Accept His Discipline and the Consequences of Your Sin!
