Christmas Wisdom!

Matthew 2:1-12

Introduction: Our Series on Christmas has us asking the following questions:

• Simeon’s Hope! What is it in your life that seems so far away from being right that you continue to place hope in God for?

• Mary’s Faith! Which Promises of God are you finding hard to believe?

• Joseph’s Courage! What Circumstances are you finding hard to face? What is God asking You do to that demands power from the Holy Spirit and Courage from your heart?

• Magi’s Wisdom! Are You Living Life Right? Wisdom Demands Action!

Who are the Magi? A Hereditary priesthood of tshe Medes in Persia. They were prominent in Daniel’s time during Jewish Captivity.

What Is Wisdom? – Applying Knowledge/Understanding to Everyday Living!

• Wisdom is Knowing Discerning and Knowing Something Good!

• Wisdom Is Doing Something About the Something Good You Know!

James 3:13-18 – Who is Wise?

Wisdom is not Just Intellectual it is ultimately Behavioral!

Ephesians 5:15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

1. The Wise Seek Christ First!

1 Corinthians 1:30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.

Proverbs 2:1 – Searching for Wisdom!

2. The Wise Worship Him Only!

Romans 12:1-2 This is Your Worship!

3. The Wise Give Appropriate!

• They Give Gifts of Value!

Gold – Kingship

Frankincense – Priesthood!

Myrrh – An Embalming Ointment signifying His death!

• They Give Out of Their Worship!

4. The Wise Hear God and Follow God!

Matthew 7:24-27 – The Wise and the Fools!
