Changing Your Attitude! 2 Philippians 4:4-8
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind!
Philippians 2:3-11 The Attitude of Christ:
Three Attitudes and Their Counterparts! The Good or the Bad Attitude
• Contentment: Visionary Vs. Discontentment – This is the Grumbler!
• Selfless: Giver Vs. Selfish – This is the Thief (Taker)
• Humble: Encourager Vs. Conceited – This is the Vampire!
I. Discontentment – This is the (Grumbler)
• Living Life Discontented is Awful!
• Discontented people do not think very highly of God.
• Discontent Attitude Breeds a Critical Spirit!
• A Critical Spirit Produces a Grumbler!
Children of Israel:
Exodus 15:24 So the people grumbled at Moses saying, What shall we drink?
Exodus 16:2 Fifteen Days from the Crossing of the Red Sea! We Want Bread!
Numbers 11:9-20 Grumbling for Beef!
Numbers 14:2 We Want Egypt!
God is Great! Right? God is Good! Right? God Provides everything your need, when you need it , to be what you need to be! Forever!
• Grumbling Ultimately Leads to Destruction
1 Corinthians 10:10 Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
Jude 1:14-16 The Reality of Grumbling: It Marks You as Ungodly.
II. Contentment – This is the Visionary!
1. Have a Great Vision of God!
• God is Sovereign! He is Lord!
• God Is Father and knows His Needs.
• God Cares for Him!
• God is faithful and will always supply His needs!
• God Always Works it Out!
• God is Always Present!
2. Have a Grand Vision for Your Life! Romans 8:28-31
Hebrews 12:2 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endure such hostility by sinners against Himself , so that you wil not grow weary and lose heart.
3. Learn and Know God’s Promises!
2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak then I am strong.
Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all tings through Him who strengthens me.
Hebrews 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.
• Choose Contentment in the One Thing First! God and His Glory
• Appreciate What You Have! And Give Thanks For It All!
• Celebrate what You Have!
• Don’t Compare Yourself with Anyone Else But Him!
• Know God is Great! Right? God is Good! Right? God Provides
everything your need, when you need it , to be what you
need to be! Forever!
