Remember! What God Promises He Always Performs! Luke 24:1-11
“Why do You Seek the Living One Among the Dead? Remember What He Told You!”
1. Remember! What God Promises He Always Performs!
1st It’s In Their Scripture! It’s Their History!
Their Father Abraham’s Story.
Romans 4:19 Without becoming weak in faith, he contemplated His body as good as dead since it was a 100 years old and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; 20 yet with respect to the promise of God he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving to glory to God, 21 and being fully assured of what God had promised, He was able also to perform!
Noah – Build an ark for the impossible flood
Moses – Set my people free from impossible circumstances
Joshua – Defeat Jericho with an impossible strategy for victory
David – Go slay Goliath – an impossible victory.
Nehemiah – Go rebuild my wall in the midst of impossible confrontation.
2nd It’s In Their 3 year Experience With Jesus
Mary – You will bear a son in your virginity.
Zacharias – You will bear a son in your old age.
Jesus Ministry –
3rd It’s In Their Immediate Context! Matthew 27:50-54
Impossible words – calling into existence that which dos not exist. Giving life to the dead!
4th It’s What Jesus “Told You!”
Luke 9:22 saying, “The son of Man must suffer many things and e rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.
Luke 18:31 Then He took the twelve aside an said to them, “Behold we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written through the prophets about h Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For He will be handed over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, 33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him and the third day He will rise again.
Matthew 27:62-66 The Jews Remembered What He Said:
We Remember His Word and His Word Fulfilled! V 1-6
2. Anticipate Resurrection! Ezekiel 37:1-14
1 Corinthians 15:13 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is vain
1 Corinthians 15:17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
The impossible word: Christ Crucified, Christ Raised! It is an impossible notion! An impossible promise that comes true! And when the women tell the disciples they do not believe! They have forgotten!
The Resurrected Power of Jesus Raises you From the Dead!
Ephesians 2:1-10
• To Be Born Again to a Living Hope!
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
• To Walk As He Walked!
Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
• To No Longer Be Slaves to Sin!
Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with {Him,} that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin;
• To Live With Him Forever!
Romans 6:8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
3. We Must Remember What He Has Promised and What He Has Done!
