A Divinely Influential Life! Matthew 5:13-16
You Are the Light of the World!
1st: The World is Dark!
2nd: You and Only You Are the Light of the World!
Verse 14: A city set on a hill cannot be hidden, 15 Nor does anyone light a lamp and but it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house!
3rd: You, the light of the world are simply a reflection of Jesus, the Light of the world!
John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not over come it because it can never ever extinguish it.
1. Follow Jesus and You will Always Walk in the Light!
John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in Darkness but will have the Light of Life.”
Isaiah 9:1-11 – Because the Light Shines:
1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL.” The last Adam, who is Christ, became a life giving spirit.
This is the Life the life Giving Spirit Gives!
2. Let Your Light Shine Through Good Works!
Verse 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Good Works! What are those?
Acts 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him!
Matthew 25:35-36 – For I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison and you came to me.
Good works Have two essential Principles to It, Or they are not good works.
Love
1 Thessalonians 1:2 We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; 3 constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father,
Without Grumbling.
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights In the world.
Light does three things:
Your Good Works Exposes Sin and Wrong doing! John 3:19-21
Your Good Works Points the Way to Christ! It points to the right decisions at the right time for the right reasons.
Your Good Works Glorifies the Father who is in Heaven.
