Lead Us Not into Temptation!

• Facing Temptation As Enticement to Sin

John 10:10 The Thief Comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (much more than all).

Abundant Life: Galatians 5:22-23

Life That Destroys:

Matthew 4:1-11 – The Temptation of Jesus

How We Face Temptation:

I. Know the Victor – Know Your Victory!

Revelation 7:14 And they overcame them because of the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives even unto death.

II. Understand Your Enemy and His Schemes

2 Corinthians 2:11 …. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.

• The Enemy’s Origin: Ezekiel 28:11-18

• Satan’s Schemes: Genesis 3:1-12

1. Makes an Appeal to Your Flesh

1 John 2:15 – Love not the world nor the things of the world. . . 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

2. Questions the Word and Character of God.
3. Perverts the Word.
4. Speaks the Lie

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks the lie, he speaks from his own nature. For he is a liar and the father of it.

• There are no Consequences to Sin

• You Can Be Your Own Standard of Right or Wrong.

III. Imitate Jesus!

• Trust His Word, Use His Word!

• Say No to Sin!

Remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 –
