God Rescues from Worry & Discontentment!

Colossians 1:13-14 – He Rescued Us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved son, in whom we have redemption the forgiveness of sins.

Fear’s Origin: The Thought and Assumption of Loss

Worry’s Origin: The Threat of Lack or Things Not Working Out!

Seek First God and His Kingdom! Matthew 6:19-33

Practice Contentment in Every Circumstance. Philippians 4:12-14

Discontentment’s Consequences:

1. It Robs Your Heart of Thankfulness!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus!

2. It Compels You to Compare!
3. It Produces Envy/Covetousness. Joshua 7:21
4. It Compels You to Look Back!

Ecclesiastes 7:10 Do not say, “Why is it the former days were better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this.

5. Discontentment Brings About Grumbling and Complaint.

The Secret of Contentment: 2 Corinthians 11:23-28 and 12:7-10

I. Always Rejoice! Acts 16:22
II. Depend on and Rest in God’s Grace!
III. Believe in God’s Finished Work! Romans 8:28-30

Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His Purpose

29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren

30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom he justified, He also glorified!

IV. Find Satisfaction in God’s Presence!

Hebrews 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have for He Himself has said, I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you!

V. Find Satisfaction with God’s Provision!

1 Timothy 6:6-10

VI. Never Be Spiritually Content! Philippians 3:1-10
